Students Working Against Tobacco

Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) is led by President Dayonica Tinsley and Vice President Rachel Durham with the help of sponsor Natalie Gomillion.

“We’ve always talked about how bad tobacco is, to start it and continue smoking it is. This year we are focusing on vaping and [the use of] e-cigarettes,” Gomillion said.

Gomillion thinks their club is a good place for students because of the promotion of healthy habits and service to the community. The club’s focus is to discuss the negative effects of smoking and attempt to stop potential users by educating themselves and others around them.

SWAT club is the best fit for students who “are smokers or nonsmokers who want to get involved,” Gomillion said.

SWAT Club meets during third period in the cafeteria. For more information about the club, contact Gomillion in the nurse’s office.
