Day Off for the State Fair… the Negatives

Noel Lyons, Staff Writer

Every year, Hillsborough county students get a day off of school and a free admission ticket.

Even though the day is meant for the fair, most students don’t go because of the amount of problems. Since its half of the county, there is a lot of people making the lines long and crowded.

From experience, the quality in food isn’t as good as it would be if you went on a regular day because the lines are longer they try to make the food faster, caring less about presentation and taste. The lines for rides are longer and some attendees don’t have patience so they cut in line.

Another negative is the fights. A lot of gangs meet up there and think it’s a good idea to have battle of the gangs in an environment that is meant for kids to have fun. So a big concern for parents is the safety for their children.

Also, it’s an easy way to lose or have personal belongings stolen. Usually it’s overcrowded and there are people bumping and running into you so they can easily grab your phone from your pocket.

Overall, going to the fair on the day we are supposed isn’t a good idea unless you like being pushed, fights, long lines and musk.
