Florida is Set to Reopen on May 4

Governor Ron DeSantis has made a statement to slowly reopen the state of Florida starting May 4.

Phase 1 of the reopening means that “elective surgeries can resume, and restaurants can do outdoor seating with 6 feet between tables and 25% capacity indoors with 6-foot spacing,” as DeSantis said in his last announcement.

Florida went under a stay-at-home order around mid-March and planned to stay like that until the beginning of April. The order was extended to the end of April because people would not follow the orders.

Phase 1 will continue until there are no more big increases in Covid-19 cases in Florida. There is not a definite timeline for how long Phase 1 will be in effect.

Places like gyms and bars will remain closed until a later time, when it is safe to reopen them again.
