Everyone Is ‘Falling’ For Pumpkin Spice

Austin Carlton, Staff Writer

As summer comes to a close and fall is starting to be celebrated prematurely, it’s no surprise to find pumpkin-spice-flavored everything in every store.

Several stores have begun selling various pumpkin spice drinks and foods. Starbucks, Wawa, Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s have all brought the popular fall flavor back to shelves. Starbucks has a quality latte if you’re willing to put a down payment for a drink. Wawa has a much more affordable drink, but the quality is still good. If pumpkin spice lattes aren’t your preferred drink they also have several other pumpkin spice beverages.

Dunkin’ Donuts “PSL’s” have a good taste as well, but when it comes to their iced coffee drinks just one sip can leave the consumer with a mouthful of undissolved sugar, since granulated sugar is more difficult to dissolve in iced drinks.

McDonald’s pumpkin spice lattes are similar to that of Wawa’s. All of these drinks can be served iced or hot, but with Florida’s “fall weather” hot drinks are rarely considered.

Other pumpkin-flavored things like pumpkin bread and pumpkin spice cookies have hit the shelves as well. Pillsbury has come out with pumpkin spice cookies that have cream cheese chips in them. Though the food is highly processed and has a lot of sugar, the cookies themselves have a true pumpkin flavor.

Another popular food brand, Entemann’s, sells glazed pumpkin spice donuts and donut holes. They come in a fall-themed box decorated with images of fall leaves that remind nearly everyone of the upcoming season.

Another popular pumpkin spice-flavored sweet treat is the Prestige Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream, sold at Winn-Dixie. The dessert has real pumpkin purée in it and pieces of actual pie crust. Considering that there isn’t much of a temperature change from summer to fall, this festive food item can cool you down while still staying in the fall theme.

Pumpkin-flavored products are here and available to purchase at nearly every store today.
