The past two football games against Jesuit and Chamberlain have played without Gaither’s repute marching cowboys.

Two weeks ago, the lights on at Death Valley stadium were damaged in a storm and the game was moved to Jesuit. Since it was a preseason game, band would not travel to perform at it.

This past Friday the entire band packed all their instruments and prepared for the game only to arrive and not be able to perform due to the weather after two weeks of practicing the halftime show.

During the rain delay at Chamberlain, both Gaither and Chamberlain’s bands went into the auditorium and got to play against each other. Around 8:30 p.m., when the football players and cheerleaders began to return to the field, band headed back to Gaither and returned their equipment to the band room.

“[Not performing at Chamberlain] kind of sucked, I was sad having to go home early. I was really excited for our first performance.” said third year percussionist Aramis Cartagena.

This Friday, Gaither is facing Brandon High School at home. The band is hoping for no rain and working electricity.
