On Thursday Gaither held one of its regular blood drives with OneBlood throughout the school day. The blood drive is open for students 16-years-old and older as an easy way to give back and help their community.

As part of the registration process, students must select a class period to leave and participate in the drive. The school will call students down to make sure that the process is as quick and painless as possible.

When considering a time slot, it is recommended to pick a non-core class to avoid having to make up work or upset teachers due to lack of attendance.

Future dates have not been set in stone yet, but there will be plenty of other opportunities throughout the school year. Students that are under 18 are required to obtain a parental signature and bring some sort of identification.

Donating helps others in need of blood and offers a rewarding experience for students and faculty alike. Snacks and drinks are provided afterwards along with a gift from OneBlood as a thank you for donating.

Participating in blood drives is a voluntary event and open to those who are both interested and medically capable of donating. Although it isn’t a requirement, it is greatly appreciated and a wonderful way to give back as a Gaither Cowboy.
