JV Football is Family On and Off the Field

The Gaither Junior Varsity Football team has big stakes to live up to for this year’s season.

The players have been working towards their fall season since spring training. Players spent the summer nights practicing as well as starting up after school training. The student body and players alike are interested to see the improvements the overall team has made since last season.

Last season, the team suffered a loss to Plant High School- the only one of the year. This is the driving force behind the team’s desire to reclaim their undefeated title.

With the first game days away, the players have been putting in even more effort than before. “We’ve been mentally preparing for this game since spring,” said Lloyd Pidich Jr., grade 10, Cornerback and Safety.

The players know the road ahead will consist of a lot of work and cooperation between each other. This year’s team consists of a great amount of incoming students. Returning teammates are welcoming their new brothers with open arms.

The team likes to think of themselves as one big family, both on and off the field, and they always like to give the underdogs an opportunity to prove themselves.

“We’re expecting great things, and we’ve been doing a lot of family bonding.” Said Pidich, “They’re looking good out there.”

JV’s first game Sept. 1 against Alonso, was cancelled due to issues with the weather. They are scheduled to play Steinbrenner on Sept. 8
