Clearwater Beach is ranked as the best beach in the nation according to Trip Advisor, and with that title comes worldwide recognition. The beach is known for its stunning sunsets and sugar sand, which happens to be perfect for sand sculpting.

The city of Clearwater has been the home of the annual Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival since 2013. The festival serves as a fundraiser that supports the educational initiatives of the Sunsets at Pier 60 Daily Festival and is Clearwater’s signature event destination.

Fourteen sculptors from all around the world come to the Tampa Bay area to participate in the master sand sculpting competition. These pieces of art are made with sand and water, compressing the wet sand before shaping it into their pieces. The event is a 17-day beach-wide celebration, with events including a cornhole tournament, food vendors, live entertainment, street performers, fireworks and more.

The festival is on until April 28, and they are open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Free activities on the beach include a children’s play area, street performers, artisans and crafters, life entertainment, and even sand demonstrations. Admission for the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit is $10 for an adult guest.
