The Australian quartet, including Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood, have already hit number one on the Billboard charts with their debut self-titled album “5 Seconds of Summer,” back in July. The songs on their live album include most of the songs on their debut album plus a few more from EPs, like Disconnected and Heartache on the Big Screen. The live album also includes cover songs from well-known artists like Green Day and Katy Perry. “What I Like About You,” originally by The Romantics, is the first single off of the live album. The band played it during their performance during the American Music Awards in November.

The album was recorded from all parts of the world during different concerts. “I was able to see them [perform] live back in October when they opened up for One Direction,” said junior Sarah Casciano. “They really seem to give it their all and their songs are really good and catchy. I’m excited for the live album.”

For this past year, 5 Seconds of Summer (also known to fans as 5SOS), have had a big year that included three singles, including their most well-known songs, “She Looks So Perfect” and “Amnesia.” They’ve received multiple awards, recently an American Music Award for Best New Artist of the Year. They’ve also toured all over Europe, North America, and Australia promoting their debut album and performing shows which would eventually turn into their live album.

Like a lot of artists in the industry, the band is known for being a huge part of their creative process when writing songs. They’ve partnered up with multiple musicians such as Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low, the Madden brothers, producer John Feldmann and more.

According to the bands’ newsletter on their website, “All we want is for our fans to come to the shows, rock out and have one of the best times they’ve ever experienced.” The band has always been open about how playing live is something that they have been passionate about from the very beginning of their careers that started in December 2011 in western Sydney.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it because it gives fans that weren’t able to go the concert an experience to see what it’s like to hear them live,” said senior Karla Quiroz.

5 Seconds of Summer kicked off their headline arena tour, which they’ve appropriately named Rock Out With Your Socks Out, at the Forum in Inglewood, California which will end mid-September of next year. They’ll be heading to MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on September 12th, 2014.

The LIVESOS album became available worldwide on December 15th, 2014 and can be purchased on iTunes and through their online website.

Tickets for their arena tour are also available on their website and Ticketmaster.
